Looking for a refreshing, energizing, and dairy-free drink? This 5 Minute Iced Matcha Latte with oat milk is the perfect balance of earthy green tea flavor and creamy sweetness. Made with premium matcha powder, oat milk, and maple syrup, this layered latte is not only delicious but also packed with natural antioxidants to fuel your day.

What is Matcha?

If you enjoy green tea, you’ll love matcha. Matcha is a finely ground powder made from shade-grown green tea leaves. Unlike regular tea, you consume the whole leaf when drinking matcha, which makes it richer in antioxidants and nutrients.

Drinking matcha gives you a calm but steady boost of energy. Unlike coffee, which can sometimes make you feel jittery, matcha contains a natural compound that helps you stay focused and relaxed while the caffeine gives you gentle, lasting energy. It can also support your metabolism, help your body burn fat more efficiently, and provide a strong dose of antioxidants that protect against stress and illness. On top of that, matcha is naturally detoxifying, making it a nourishing choice to enjoy every day.

Ingredients for a 5 Minute Iced Matcha Latte

You only need 5 simple ingredients:

  • Matcha powder – Use high-quality, vibrant green matcha for the best flavor.
  • Sweetener – Maple syrup keeps it vegan-friendly, but you can also use honey or sugar.
  • Milk of choice – Oat milk adds creaminess, but almond, soy, or dairy milk work too.
  • Warm water – Use just enough to dissolve the matcha powder smoothly.
  • Ice cubes – Optional, but perfect for a refreshing iced version.

How to Make a Layered Iced Matcha Latte

To achieve the beautiful layered look, mix the milk and sweetener first, then pour the whisked matcha over iced milk. This prevents the matcha from sinking to the bottom.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Add half a glass of cold oat milk and your sweetener of choice. Stir well.
  2. In a small jug or bowl, whisk warm water with matcha powder until frothy. A bamboo whisk works best.
  3. Fill your glass of sweetened milk with ice, leaving a little space at the top for the matcha mixture.
  4. Slowly pour the matcha mixture over the iced milk to create the layered look.
  5. Stir gently and enjoy.

Equipment

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 bamboo matcha whisk
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 1 glass

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp premium grade matcha powder
  • 3/4 glass of milk of choice
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • a few ice cups to fill the glass

Instructions

  • Combine half a glass of cold milk and sweetener together. Mix well with an electric whisk or spoon.
  • In a separate bowl or measuring jug, combine warm water and matcha powder. Mix with an electric whisk or matcha bamboo whisk until a thin layer of foamy bubbles form at the top.
  • Add ice to the glass of sweetened milk. Leave space at the top of the glass to pour in the matcha mixture.
  • Slowly pour the matcha mixture over the glass of iced milk.
  • Stir well until the sweetened milk and matcha are well combined.

Notes

  • If you are using a bamboo matcha whisk, remember to soak this whisk in warm water before use. This will soften the bristles and make it easier to mix matcha.
  • Also, if you want a creamier, café-style drink, try using barista-style oat milk, which is specially made to foam and blend smoothly with matcha.
